Now, the rainy seasons has started here. A possibilty for us to relax a bit in the „up market“ (that means a bit more expensive) town of Port Douglas in Far North Queensland …
Unfortunately, the internet is very weak here and our mobile phones do not work – connections only by chance. Locals say that it is due to Telstra having some problems here.
This is our „motel/YHA“, the Coral Beach Resort.
We don’t do much today, jst a bit of shopping. Annette wants to grill some fresh fish tonight and some vegetable. Let’s see if that works. A thunderstorm is coming up. Otherwise, there is a kitchen (which is however crowded by chicks doing their cooking).
One highlight is a Chinese pressure massage in which she indulge. She buys postcards and stamps – it’s nearly 3 AUD to send a postcard to Europe! Quite expensive!
Tomorrow in any case we will go to the Mossman Gorge, not far from Port Douglas. Then we proceed to Cairns again, where we have to do some „repackedging“ – because the day after tomorrow, our train leaves at 9 am to Rockhampton – 16 hours train ride, allways along the coast, the ticket says 1064 km.
