Today, we explore the Atherton Tableland a bit. First of all, we do another hike, 5 km around nearby Lake Barine. This lake as the other one are of vulcanic origin. Again very pleasanr and easy walking. At the end we had Denvenshire Tea in the adjacent Tea House, scones, jam and creme and real british tea.<\/p>\n
Further South we get to this huge Cathedral Fig Tree – about 500 years old – very impressing.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n
From there, we drive to Malanda, a small town with a few shops in the main street. We use the ATM and buy some more food at „Spar“.\u00a0 Spar also existed in Germany before the concentration of supermarkets.<\/p>\n
And then we visit the nearby Malanda Falls – again not much water at this time of the year. But in the Visitor Center an older employee gave us the hint (I have asked for the tree Kangaroos) to go to the Nerada Tea Plantation whre you can visit the fabric, have some tea and spot the tree kangaroos that live here, too.<\/p>\n
And indeed! After being so polite to buy some tea we got asked if we want to see the kangaroos, too. 2 men with huge\u00a0 photo lenses were watching them at the entrance of the plantation.<\/p>\n
We take some pictures too, but only with our „used“ little camera. Nevertheless: a good shot:<\/p>\n

Finally, we drive further South to see the waterfalls, that are „enlined“ on a 15 km circuit drive. We only show one here:<\/p>\n

Tomorrow, we will leave our nice campground at Lake Eacham to go North, to Granite Gorge.<\/p>\n
